This year a considerable amount of Olympians participated in the national wear red day. This day was brought forth by the American Heart Association to raise awareness of heart disease in women. As part of raising the awareness throughout February several Olympians wore red as they competed. To the right is a picture of Olympian Noelle Pikus- Pace skeleton slider posing for NBC demonstrating a red dress. It is admiring how several Olympians are helping the general public raise their awareness of heart disease.
In an article Olympian aerial skier Emily Cooke and Noelle Pikus-pace olympian gave tips on how to prevent women from getting heart disease. These women tried to make it easy to the public by providing simple tips. For example, one simple tip stated by these Olympians was that woman should make sure to stay hydrated at all times. Staying hydrated can help prevent heart disease. These Olympians expressed how exercise and nutrition is already part of their life, but that it was important for them to get involved and help Go Red for Women promote the awareness of hearth disease. To me all the ideas to help prevent heart disease stated by these Olympians were inspiring.
